A claim can be anchored to a genuine human trial and still be unsupported for the product being sold, because the product does not deliver what the trial delivered. This is a dose gap, and it is unusually common in longevity marketing.
The four ways a dose gap opens
The amount is lower. The simplest case. A trial uses a quantity that would be expensive to put in a capsule, so the product contains a fraction of it and cites the trial anyway.
The form is different. Compounds come in forms that differ enormously in how much actually reaches the bloodstream. A product using a cheaper, less available form and citing a trial on a different one has changed the intervention.
The animal-to-human conversion was skipped. Animal doses are given per kilogram and do not scale directly to humans. Scaled honestly, many animal longevity doses are far beyond anything a person could take.
The duration is different. A benefit shown over two years of daily use is not a claim about a month, and a bottle is usually a month.
The check that takes two minutes
Find the dose in the cited study. Find the dose in the product. If they differ, the study supports the compound at that dose, not the product in front of you.
Proprietary blends
Where a label lists a blend with a single total weight rather than a quantity per ingredient, the dose of any individual component cannot be established. That makes every study citation on the label unverifiable in principle, regardless of whether the studies are good.
A blend is not evidence of a problem. It is an absence of the information required to check, and an absence of information is a legitimate reason to withhold a supported verdict.
More is not the fix
The obvious response to a dose gap is to take more, and it is a bad one. Dose-response curves are frequently not linear, several nutrients have well-established harms at high intake, and the trial dose was chosen because it was tested rather than because it was optimal.
Nothing here should be read as advice to increase an intake. It is a reason to treat the claim as unsupported, which is a different conclusion.
How Longevity Claim Verification handles it

A mismatch produces an unsupported verdict for the product with the study still reported accurately, because the science and the marketing built on it are separate things and only one of them failed.
